PERSONALITY
Easygoing Rose's carefully curated up-for-anything goodtime girl persona is partially a construct, but like all good lies there's truth at the heart of it. Extroverted and energetic, she's always enjoyed socializing. She was famous at Hogwarts for throwing killer parties (although she was a little bit of a steamroller in the process of organizing them). She works well as the glue for any social circle, because she's the kind of person who loves entertaining and is always inviting people out or over.
Organized Rose is more than a little neurotic, but for the most part she hides it well. She cannot, however, stand any amount of mess. She's oftentimes passive aggressive about this, but will also gladly clean common areas of her living spaces without fuss, because she'd rather do it right than have somebody else do it wrong. She also delights in organizing events, trips, and projects, making her an ideal lynchpin for any friend group.
Impulsive With tinges of self destruction thrown in for good measure. Rose cannot seem to stop undermining her own happiness, whether it's in personal life, her romantic relationships, or her career. Every time she gets too close to what she thinks she wants more than anything, she'll shoot herself in the foot. Sometimes this seems unintentional, but sometimes it's clear that she's torching her own prospects to stay in her comfort zone and never rise above it.
Manipulative All those Slytherin traits that she tries so hard to cover up with peppiness and fun are still festering beneath the façade. Rose is ultimately self-serving, and she's good at twisting words and situations to suit her own needs. A compulsive teller of white lies, she often talks up her own stories to make herself sound cooler and everyone else sound worse. She has a talent for making herself the victim in any situation, and she holds grudges something nasty.
Irreverent Rose has always had a contentious relationship with authority. While she was a prefect and overachiever in school, she was often caught breaking the rules. This usually earned her a stern "this isn't like you" or "I know you're better than this". It is, and she really isn't. She's mouthy, she thinks she's better than everyone else, she doesn't feel sorry if she hurts someone's feelings and she thinks she deserves it. This all combines to make a strong love-it-or-hate-it personality, and while she has plenty of friends, she also has more than her fair share of enemies.

History:
Rose’s parents are, of course, war heroes. Although Ron likes to make off-handed jokes about how famous he is, the fact is that the family has been in the spotlight since Rose was a toddler and Hermione started making serious moves towards becoming Minister of Magic. Alongside her Potter cousins, Rose and her family were oftentimes the subjects of tabloids and respectable papers alike. Ever since she was a child, Rose has been aware of the expectations that go along with having a mother in politics, and they have always weighed on her a little heavier than she would like to admit.
The first family “scandal” came before Rose was even off to Hogwarts. While she showed a keen aptitude for charms and had manifested her magic at a preternaturally early age, Hugo hadn’t so much as turned the family cat green at eight years old. The family still isn’t sure how the rumor got out, but it ultimately ended up being true: Hugo was a squib. But there was no better family for a squib to be born into in wizarding England; the Granger-Weasleys have always been proud of their muggle heritage, and embraced Hugo’s status. This has truly never bothered Rose nor has she ever thought less of her brother for it, but it did teach her at just ten that society could be merciless if you made a misstep, or even if you didn’t.
Heading to Hogwarts without her brother and with the knowledge that he wasn’t set to join her there in the coming years was difficult for Rose, even if she had a large retinue of cousins and family friends to keep her company at school. She, at the very least, won her drawn-out argument with the Sorting Hat and was placed in Gryffindor, although it seriously considered Slytherin for her. She’s never regretted her placement in her parents’ former house, even though she ultimately ended up spending most of her school years socializing with the Slytherins – her cousin Albus Potter and his best friend Scorpius Malfoy, in particular.
Although Rose had always enjoyed Al’s company, she grew much more codependent on him as the years went on. In her fifth year, she was made prefect alongside Al, a configuration she was a little bit of a steamroller in. Because the student authority largely comprised of her family and friends at that point, she felt like she could get away with anything, and quickly became notorious for throwing large and raucous parties in the Room of Requirement while somehow never managing to be caught by the staff.
It was also in her fifth year that Rose finally started dating her long-time crush, Landon Vexmoor, who was Gryffindor’s newest Quidditch hotshot at that point. They enjoyed their time as the Gryffindor Alpha Couple, and though their relationship was frequently dramatic and turbulent they never actually broke up. Rose managed to finish out her years at Hogwarts with ten NEWT accreditations, and it looked like she had as bright a future ahead of her as her mother had.
But Rose, who had been returning home with scores of perfect grades for years without seeming to impress her mother, had long since given up on that endeavor. Instead of applying for the auror training program, like she had intended to, she instead eloped with Landon, inviting none of her family save for Al. While she loves being the center of attention, she’s always been a private type and had never relished in the thought of baring her soul and reading her vows in front of 200 people, and she’s never regretted this decision, although it did cause a minor dust-up of drama in the Potter-Weasley family that summer.
When she returned to England from her months-long honeymoon, she had missed the application deadline for the auror program and instead decided to apply for the Obliviator office. Soon she found that she had an immense natural aptitude for it. She soared through training and was the immediate darling of her office, rising to every challenge presented to her and (seemingly) never making a single error.
Rose's aptitude for memory charms made small ones so easy for her to cast that they barely felt like memory charms at all. Occasionally, when she messed up at work or didn't perform to her own standards, she tweaked things. If it took her a few tries to file her report correctly, she fudged it so she got it perfect on the first go. If she put her foot in her mouth talking to her supervisor, she fudged that too. Her natural talent for twisting the truth to work in her favor, combined with her natural talent with memory charms, allowed these deceptions to go unnoticed in the office.
This bad habit could have spun unethically out of hand very quickly, except she tried to pull it on her mother. Hermione's probably the only person in the world more naturally adept at memory charms than Rose is, and immediately identified what had been done to her. Not wanting her daughter to face the serious consequences of these transgressions, Hermione decided to keep it under wraps, but any sense of trust between them was destroyed, and Hermione keeps a very watchful eye over her now to make sure she isn't doing this anymore.
The only other person who ever found out was Landon, who was so disturbed by her behavior that their relationship was thrown into immediate turmoil. Rose eventually grew tired of the lectures and fighting, and threatened to wipe his memory too. She knew it was a bridge too far the second she said it, and she never attempted to follow through, but their marriage was over. He couldn't trust that she wouldn't or hadn't already altered his memories. They ended things as quickly and privately as they'd started them, and some of Rose's relatives and friends didn't even know about the divorce until after it was finalized.
She's thrown herself into her work as a distraction, but she's no longer the do-no-wrong golden child of the Obliviator office. It's easy enough for her coworkers to chalk this up to her recent move to the Department of Mysteries (something everybody struggles with), but every small failure weighs on Rose. Recently, during a work mishap, she ended up with extensive lichtenberg figure scarring across her arms, which she tries to hide and refuses to talk about.
After getting kicked out of the house she'd lived in with her husband, she spent a few miserable months living at home as per Hermione's demands. Finally feeling some drive to independence, she moved out of the Granger-Weasley family home and into Henhurst Hall.
